I saw Matthew for a period of time, and unfortunately, the experience was very negative. Rather than helping, he made me feel worse and seemed to amplify the issues I was already struggling with. I think it's easy to place trust in therapists and expect them to guide us with care, but he never really connected with me. In the end, I felt like I learned more about him than I did about myself. Even now, a year later, I still reflect on the experience with resentment. Not only do I feel that he made things worse, but I also regret the time and money spent on a process that ultimately left me feeling more harmed than helped.

If the response to this message is simply another offer to “help me more,” then I need to say this clearly: you cannot help me unless you first acknowledge that, in my eyes, you do not represent health or healing. I’ve seen otherwise—personally and directly.

I now attend a different counselling service, where the contrast is clear. That clarity is what gave me the confidence to leave this review, knowing that my experience here was, in fact, harmful.

Connect counseling has been a monumental pillar in my mental health wellness journey. Me and my son both receive counseling and it has changed our lives. It has enriched our relationship and it has given us the tools to delve through our traumas. They are not only unbelievably helpful, they are convenient. They allow me to do remote phone call sessions so that I could be at home with my high needs toddler. They have become like a family to me. They have also offered great courses that enrich the mind and bring tools to the toolbox. I did a great parenting course there if you are interested inquire!!!

Where do I even begin with my series of accolades for every member of this wonderful organization. I used to consider myself an average guy. A year ago, a traumatic brain injury changed that in an instant. Humpty Dumpty’s men had no chance helping with my severe fragmentation. I had to finally choose to dig deep and realized that I would have to work through some uncomfortable forgotten issues addressed with actively engaging therapies.

The team at Connect is there for me (and you) - above and beyond. My counsellor inspires me to adapt positive changes into my life and my participation in the mens trauma group has opened my eyes to the magnitude of compassion demonstrated by those in similar circumstances.

I encourage you to take those first steps necessary to start working through your situation - whatever it may be. I wanted to share this review with you so that you will have less hesitation with accepting the fact that “it’s really completely ok to ask for help”. You deserve to find the wonderful you. Don't bother with these folks. You have to call multiple times to get an appointment. We finally got an appointment, paid and then had to call in to get the meeting link. Sat on the virtual meeting link for 23 minutes and then had to call in 2x to see why nobody was joining.
